A Wonderful Year Concluded!
The commencement exercises on Wednesday, June 16, formally closed the 2009-2010 school year. And what a wonderful year it was! Our students had many successes – academic, social, artistic, and athletic – about which they, their parents and community can be proud. I am certainly proud of the partnership that exists between students, parents, and faculty that makes this level of student achievement possible.
I want to again wish our recent graduates the very best for their future pursuits. I know that each of them is eager to move on. I hope that each fulfills his or her promise, finds happiness and love, and makes a positive difference in his or her orbit. I am confident that each of them has the ability to accomplish these ends.
I also wish each of our underclassmen a relaxing and safe summer vacation and thank each of them for contributing to the wholesome, growth-enhancing environment that characterizes our school. I look forward to your return in September. We still have much work to do to ensure the full development of each and every student in our school and community! Throughout the summer try to find time to read, to enjoy the company of others, to attend to national and global events, and to dream about your place in the world. When you come back to school in the fall I want each of you to be committed to acting in ways that advance your own and others’ interests. By working together we will all come out ahead!
Best wishes!

Memorial Day 2010
Memorial Day is a time to celebrate and honor those, living and deceased, who have served our country selflessly to keep us safe and free. The nation’s past and present service men and women are deserving of our greatest respect and admiration. They serve in harm’s way with too little fanfare or appreciation from those at home. It is unfortunate that we think to recognize them but on one day each year. It would be more appropriate to honor them all year long by taking full advantage of the opportunities that their sacrifice affords us. In that spirit, I encourage our students to renew their commitment to education and excellence in all that they pursue. Serve others locally to create a better community. Be kind to others to foster good will among and between your peers. Drive out animosity and pettiness so that each student can develop his/her talents fully. Work hard to acquire a better understanding of the world’s problems so that you can assist others in finding solutions. Doing these things every day will be the surest and best means of honoring the sacrifice of those in uniform. To do this every day is to truly honor them and their commitment to your welfare.
